In January 1926, the National Guangdong University set up the Specialized College. New departments of politics, economics, sociology, business, and education were launched in the college, offering courses including socialism and Marxist theories, imperialism and China, and Soviet studies.
2.The 1st Anniversary of the Death of Dr.Sun Yat-sen
On March 12, 1926, people from all walks of life in Guangdong held a ceremony to commemorate the 1st Anniversary of the Death of Dr.Sun Yat-sen at the National Guangdong University, in the presence of Wang Jingwei, Chiang Kai-shek, Gan Naiguang, Tan Yankai, Lin Boqu, Wu Chaoshu, Mao Dun, T. V. Soong, Gao Yuhan, He Xiangning, Deng Zhongxia, Chen Gongbo, Shen Baotong, and others. At the University’s assembly hall, they gave speeches for seven consecutive nights, on issues such as the history of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary activities, Sun Wenism, Dr. Sun Yat-sen and youth, diplomacy, finance, nationalism, armed forces, worker and peasant policy, and women’s movements.

3.Anthem of the National Sun Yat-sen University
In April 1926, the anthem of the National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) was decided by Guo Moruo, and set to melody by Li Yaohui.

4.South China Society of Biology
In April 1926, the National Guangdong University’s Department of Biology launched the South China Society of Biology and published the Journal of Biology.

5.The Esperanto Society of the National Guangdong University
In June 1926, Huang Zunsheng (Wong Kemm) and Ou Shengbai founded the Esperanto Society of the University, with the purpose “to research, disseminate, and apply Esperanto, to ally ourselves with individuals, groups, and nations who treat us on the basis of equality, and to devote ourselves to the cause of people’s revolution and the world revolution.”

6.Department of Propaganda of the Northern Expedition Army
In June 1926, the National Guangdong University’s Student Union organized the Department of Propaganda of the Northern Expedition Army, aiming to arouse the awakening of the people and ally themselves against the enemies. Gong Xizhi, Gan Jiaxin, Li Shaohua, Li Yizhong, Chen Xiezhong, Liu Yulun, and the other four volunteered to join the department. Meanwhile, Guo Moruo also joined the Northern Expedition and served as the secretary of the General Political Department as well as the head of the Department of Propaganda.

The 9th Annual Meeting of the Agricultural Association of China
On August 12, 1926, the 9th Annual Meeting of the Agricultural Association of China was held at the University. Mao Zedong, Sun Fo, Gan Naiguang, Hsu Chung-ching, and Jin Zengcheng attended and addressed the meeting. Earlier on October 10, 1925, Communist Party members like Mao Zedong and Lin Boqu had participated in the opening ceremony of the New Student Association Congress at the National Guangdong University.

8.Women’s Movement Training Institute
On October 11, 1926, the Guangdong Women’s Department and the NSYSU’s Special Branch of the Communist Party of China jointly held a ceremony to mark the opening of the Women’s Movement Training Institute. While Deng Yingchao headed the institute and Chen Tiejun took charge of the routine work, members like Zhou Enlai, Yun Daiying, He Xiangning, Xiong Rui, and Zheng Boqi attended classes of the intitute.

9.Changing the President System into the Committee System
On October 14, 1926, NSYSU changed its President System into the Committee System. Dai Jitao was appointed as Director-General, Ku Meng-yu as Vice Director-General, and Xu Qian, Ding Weifen, and Zhu Jiahua as members of the committee. In June 1927, the Committee System was changed back to the President System.

10.The Campus Newspaper of the National Sun Yat-sen University started its publication
The Campus Newspaper of the National Sun Yat-sen University started its publication on November 5, 1926, and stopped on December 26, 1927.

11.Department of Political Discipline Education of the NSYSU
In December 1926, the Guangzhou Branch of the Political Council of the Central Executive Committee of the Kuomintang appointed Li Jishen as the Director of the Department of Political Discipline Education of the NSYSU, Gan Naiguang as the Deputy Director, and He Xiangning, Shi Tongcun, Gan Naiguang, Yun Daiying, Chen Qiyuan, and Yu Shude as the teaching staff.
