1.Implementation of the tutorial system
On March 1, 1937, the National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) announced the interim implementation of the tutorial system which would be officially launched in the spring semester. This tutorial system designated that first-year students would be divided into groups of up to ten, each led by a professor as the tutor. These professors, alongside their teaching and research duties, would prioritize guiding students in the development of their morality, political literacy, and extracurricular activities. In April, the departments successively divided the students into groups and started to carry out conversations with them.

2.Lin Sen, Chairman of the National Government, visited NSYSU
On March 29, 1937, Lin Sen, the then Chairman of the National Government of the Republic of China, , together with Lyu Chao, the Generalissimo’s Chief of Staff, visited NSYSU. Xiao Guanying, the Acting Secretary of the University, led the students and staff to extend warm welcome and pay homage to Lin Sen and his delegation. They were then escorted to the auditorium to plant trees to commemorate the visit, followed by a tea party, photo taking in front of a newly constructed building adorned with a banner reading “Welcome Chairman Lin, Esteemed Guest of Our University”, and a visit to the students’dormitory and canteen.

3.Establishment of the South China Silk Improvement Factory
In March 1937, the College of Agriculture of NSYSU and the Administration of Silk Improvement under the Department of Construction of Guangdong Province, jointly opened the South China Silk Improvement Factory in order to strengthen the liaison between them and to revive the silk business in Guangdong. The College of Agriculture was responsible for all research-related issues, and the Administration of Silk Improvement was responsible for the administration and promotion of silk.

4.The Law Science School of National Guangdong University was incorporated into the College of Law of NSYSU
In August 1937, by order of the National Government, the Law Science School of National Guangdong University, which had been under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Judicial Administration, was incorporated into the College of Law of NSYSU.

On December 24, 1937, a group of students from the College of Arts and the College of Law of NSYSU jointly initiated the establishment of the “National Sun Yat-sen University Counter-Japanese Vanguard”. On the December 26, the “Counter-Japanese Vanguard of the Affiliated Middle School of National Sun Yat-sen University” was established. On January 7 of the following year, the Counter-Japanese Vanguard of the University was formally established and the Special Issue of the Counter-Japanese Vanguard of National Sun Yat-sen University published. NSYSU played an active role in the establishment of the “Guangdong Youth Acounter-Japanese Vanguard”, together with other youth organizations in the province.
