To celebrate the centennial birth of Sun Yat-sen University, the cooperation and development conference was held in Qingdao City, Shandong Province on June 16, which was hosted by the university’s Alumni Association and Education Development Foundation, and organized by the Alumni Association in Shandong. More than 200 distinguished guests, including Academician Gao Song, president of Sun Yat-sen University, recipients of school honors, members of Shandong Alumni Association, and social elites, participated in this conference, which was presided over by Professor Xie Shi, vice-president of the university.

After the conference kicked off with the national anthem, President Gao delivered a speech about the university’s past remarkable achievements in multiple dimensions since the founding of Sun Yat-sen University in 1924, such as in education, scientific research and social services. He also expressed sincere gratitude to people from all walks of life who have cared about and supported the development of the university.
“It is everyone’s enthusiastic assistance and enduring affection that has facilitated the university to consistently pursue excellence, unite efforts, cultivate more outstanding talents for the Party and the country, and make greater contributions to national prosperity and social progress,” said Gao.

Shandong Province, which has one of the most complete industrial categories, is a major industrial, economic, and maritime province in China. Qingdao City is Shandong’s financial center, as well as a pivotal coastal city with pleasant scenery and flourishing tourism. President Gao showed his expectations to establish a closer relationship with Shandong Province and Qingdao City in talent cultivation, scientific research, and industry-university-research collaboration, to promote high-quality development on both sides.
During the conference, various school honors such as the “Yat-Sen Friendship Award” “Yat-Sen Educational Contribution Award” as well as “Alumni Work Contribution Award” and “Alumni Association Organization Award”, were presented to the attendees who have made exceptional contributions to the school’s cause of education.

Under the joint witness of the attendees, ceremonies were held on site where alumnus Jiang Nan donated to the Education Development Fund project, alumni Li Ruiqing and Ma Shuo donated to the Evening Art and Variety Show project, and Pu’er Lancang Ancient Tea Co., Ltd. donated to the “Alumni Home” service project to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen University.
